I love Mango's! I also enjoy a good kiwi! Pineapple is delicious! Fig's will delight you! Pomegranate's are splendid! The dilemma you ask? All of them are not available year round and at the same time. Shucks. Or is it so bad? We could try and pump our fruit with chemicals to make them ripe year round, but the joy isn't in eating them year round. The joy is in realizing, that right when your luscious mango you crave daily, has expired it's existence at your local market, you see that something new and refreshing has replaced them. You forget all your troubles, tell the mango's you'll see them next year, all lights turn green, everyone wins the lottery, birds chirp, my brother sings praises for the sun at 0430 in the morning, all mail is delivered on time, and the girl at starbucks gives you a free Pike Place today just because Pomegranate's are in season!! Oh joyful pomegranates!! Praises, Praises!

I don't know about praises for the sun at 0430, but if I ate with yall all the time I think I would do 20% better in the gym. Little Lat is getting some good food!
Perhaps I should venture back into the Pom world...last time I was not so impressed but this makes me want to try again! Especially if I get a free Pike's Place out of it:) Also, as an aside, I remember your introduction to and ensuing love affair with Kiwi fruit. You were probably 3. We were on a family vacation in Salinas and Dad brought some Kiwi back to the hotel room one morning for us to try. Na and I refused to eat it because it was "fuzzy" and "weird" but you dug right in, devoured the whole lot, and begged for more... it starts young:) Oh and Bryn is your Kindred Kiwi Spirit - she can't get enough of them. I bet she will love Poms:) We're off to the store.
Hey, we bought a Pom today! Thanks for being a good influence:) We'll let you know how it goes...
Meanwhile here is some questionable influence: Starbucks is brewing their Thanksgiving blend this week and next and it is pretty good if you want a little change from Pike's Place:)
OK - Let's see how many comments I can leave on this post...
We successfully obtained and peeled and ate a Pomegranate for snack today and yes, I agree they are splendid - Until you get to the gross white pit of every single seed! What!? How can something so good have something so ruinous in every bite? We just akwardly spit that part out at every single bite ... do people actually eat that part? What do you do?
Ker Bear,
Pom's are splendid indeed! I think you must commit to a "lifestyle change" when eating them by darling. The little seed white seed in the middle is designed by King Jesus himself to be eaten. Next Pom you and Bryn eat, try visualizing crunchy Capt'n Crunch cereal. Capt'n Crunch is sweet and crunchy, and so are Pom's. We eat Capt'n Crunch for breakfast and King Jesus ate Pom's for breakfast. Think of it that way and you will have no problem. The little white seeds, you can chomp right through, they actually aid in digestion, and they won't give you or bryn a tummy ache. Scouts honor. I must admit that since you have ventured out of the realms of comfort and tried a Pom, for me, tomorrow first thing I am going to get a Thanksgiving day brew from our beloved, Starbucks. Until then happy Pomming.
All my affection

Yes Keri, want your fiber for the day, eat a POM and yes the white content in the middle. Oh how delightful they are and your GIT will thank you oh so much. Lots of love, ELI.
OK, we jumped right in today and finished it WITH the "whites":) I have to say it did take some getting used to...but I told Bryn, "Uncle Ben and Auntie Beth and Lathan eat it with the seeds and Uncle Ben says it's just like crunchy cereal so lets try it!" And we tried it. And we liked it:) Thanks for teaching us a new trick!
I ventured out of my little "Pike Place" bubble into the strange and mystical world of other coffee flavors. I was hesitant and almost scared. However, I overcame the intimidation and tried a thanksgiving day roast, from you know who, and... I loved it. It was great. Thanks for the encouragement to venture into deeper waters.
All my love
