My Little Sower

The Little Plant

In the heart of a seed,
Buried deep so deep,
A tiny plant
Lay fast asleep.
"Wake," said the sunshine,
"And creep to the light."
"Wake," said the voice
Of the raindrops bright.
The little plant heard
And it rose to see,
What the wonderful,
Outside world might be.

Fun Idea: I saw this idea in a magazine, source forgotton, but have been carefully cracking, cleaning, and saving the shells for a little over a month. Lathan and I had a joyful time filling them with potting soil, making a hole in the center, sowing some tomato seeds, and then carefully watering all of them in hopes that soon we can plant young plants outside in a couple of weeks. Because the seeds are in shells, a natural compostable, it can go directly into the ground as is and will add calcium to the soil and plant as it decomposes. Of course since it still every now and then frosts at night, they need to be sheltered indoors overnight and set in the sun in the day. Pretty clever I thought.

What a super cool idea. And you posted it at the perfect time for me to try it, yay:) Thanks for sharing!
p.s. Is Lathan's hair darkening a lot already or is it just the lighting?
